The letter to the good people in Ephesus told them not to put on the armour of violence. It told them to put on the armour of "love." I've been to this ancient seaport city with well-preserved ruins in modern-day Turkey. Although only 20% of it has been excavated and uncovered today, it's easy to understand how this city played a vital role in spreading Christianity.
The Armour of God consists of seven pieces: the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, the Gospel of Peace, the Shield of Faith, the Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit. The Bible illustrated the Christian life as a battle against sin and Satan. If only our world wore their Armour of Love today!
