It was a glorious day and the sky was strikingly royal blue with puffy, white cumulus clouds that looked like pieces of floating cotton. It made me imagine my father watching my mother’s move like a program on television. It felt strange to be uprooting my mother to a place my father had never seen. They had always made every decision together, and now I was driving to her new place with mixed emotions. When I was halfway there, I began to talk to God, and Dad. It was then when things got weird. I began to whisper, “Dad I think you would like where we are moving Mom today, but I wish you could somehow give us your sign of approval.”

From that moment, I must have driven the rest of the way cross-eyed as I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Even with making two right turns, the feather stayed perfectly attached to the windshield until I pulled into the driveway of mom’s new retirement home. It was there, and only there, did the feather lift and blow away. Was this coincidence or was this of Divine origin? Is it coincidental robin symbolism means new beginnings?
