The visitor crowds were large, yet I noticed no one else seemed to see it, and to this day, I still wonder if it was there. I’m sure thousands of visitors a day passed by it as it lay in a pile of dark, coal-like, stone rubble.

As I passed by it, I noticed it had words inscribed on it, but what amazed me the most was it seemed to brighten and illuminate as I got closer to it. The words in German were inscribed on it: “Bengrenzt ist das Leben, doch unendlichdie Erinnerung,” which I later found out to mean:  ​“Life is limited, but memories are infinite.”
